Medical Cannabis Orlando

Direct Primary care (DPC) is the the way primary care used to be – all simplified with full price transparency.

DPC (direct primary care) doctors on average have panels of only 500 patients compared to doctors that are insurance based, who have panels of 5000-8000 patients.

Smaller panels, allows DPC doctors to spend 30 min on each patient, be more responsive to acute problems , spend more time on chronic health issues and focus on prevention.

No insurance is needed for Direct primary care. To cover services not within DPC coverage such as the cost of some medications, some specialty referrals, surgery and/or hospitalizations you will need a high deductible insurance plan

  • What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct primary care is an innovative practice model in which patients pay their primary care doctor directly, rather than through their insurance company. Patients pay a fixed monthly fee to be able to access their doctor for primary care needs, instead of paying an insurance company premiums and co-pays. The Direct Primary Care model also includes Concierge Medicine.
  • I don’t have insurance – can I still join?
We accept all patients regardless of whether or not they are insured or what type of insurance they have. We simply do not bill the insurance companies. This way, we can provide the best and most affordable care possible by eliminating the “middleman.” Since we work completely outside of the insurance system, none of the billing for care here is eligible for insurance reimbursement. However, we recommend that everyone have insurance coverage, which is still important in the event of a major health issue.
  • How does your private medical practice differ from a traditional insurance-based practice?
This model does allow the focus to be back on our relationship. I have a small office, a small staff, I limit the number of patients in my practice, so I can focus on you. The office visits are often extended. Your calls will be answered, and your problems addressed. You will have access to my personal contact information. I will give you multiple modalities to receive care, including telephone, text, email and video chat. And if you need to be seen, my goal is to provide same or next-day access
  • What if I already have insurance or Medicare?
You are allowed to see a DPC physician if you have insurance, I simply will not bill your insurance. You will pay me directly for care. I am considered a non-participating provider.
  • Do you bill my insurance?
No. Our practice is designed to be unencumbered by the constraints and limited reimbursement of insurance plans so that we may better serve and care for our patients. You will NOT be charged for office visits or co-pays. You only pay the membership fee.
  • Do I still need to have insurance?
Yes. Maho Health DPC is NOT a health insurance program. It is very important to maintain insurance and/or Medicare to cover expensive, unusual and unpredictable events such as surgery, emergency room care, hospitalization, labs and x-rays. BUT NOT for everyday preventative primary care! The current insurance-based healthcare system actually makes primary care MORE expensive, difficult and less effective too. Our practice does the opposite. By charging a set fee, I can spend more time with you and focus on your individual health needs to maintain and improve your health. I want you to see me as often as you need to, because my goal is healthy and happy members!
  • I have great insurance. Why should I join?
Health insurance does not always equal health care. In the traditional model, visits “covered” by insurance are often rushed in 15 minutes or less while the doctor stares at a computer screen checking boxes, and the patient is told they aren’t allowed to discuss more than one problem or will need to return. Those types of visits might be “covered” by insurance, but may not be the type of high quality, personal, and accessible care you need. At Maho Health DPC, you will have personal access to a highly qualified primary care physician with benefits that include extended appointment times, same or next day appointments for urgent visits, and access to Dr. Aleksandrova via phone, text and email.
  • Who does this model work best for?
This model works well for anyone desiring a personal relationship with their physician. Patients with exceptional health insurance or those paying a high monthly premium are unlikely to see a cost savings but will certainly stand to benefit from personalized care. The model works very well for healthy people who have the option of choosing a high-deductible plan, like myself, because the monthly membership allows most medical needs to be met by your PCP without additional visit costs. Additionally, DPC physicians typically form alliances with community services that are able to offer cash-pay pricing for labs, imaging, PT, etc. These fees are often less than insurance co-pays and can give patients the option of choosing to pay upfront to save on healthcare costs.
  • How can Maho Health help me save money?
Depending on the frequency that patients need primary care services, many find that they pay less for Maho Health DPC membership than they would traditionally with regular copays. Additionally, by having easier and more direct access to their own primary care physician, patients can avoid costly urgent care and emergency department visits. Maho Health DPC is also able to utilize our resources to help patients save money on labs, imaging, and medications. Often, these prices are below what patients would expect to pay even with their insurance coverage. Maho Health DPC helps patients save valuable time by offering phone visits and direct email contact. Since patients can manage their healthcare while taking less time away from work or their demanding schedules, many find the convenience and peace of mind provided by Maho Health DPC priceless.
  • What if I am healthy and rarely go to the doctor?
That is great! Our primary focus is to keep members well and to avoid lots of “medical” care. As such, we can dedicate more time to prevention and lifestyle issues to continue to keep you away from the expensive, cumbersome health care system. However, when you do need care, we are available 24/7 to help get you back on track. Most of the unexpected trips to ER or urgent care that would have emptied your pocketbook can easily be covered in a same day visit at MahoHealth, often saving the member enough to justify the cost of a year worth of membership fees!
  • Do you see me if I’m in the hospital?
No. However, I will directly communicate with the hospitalist. Hospital admissions for serious medical problems are stressful and often confusing for patients and their families. During hospital admissions, you will be assigned to a hospitalist with whom I will established a working relationship. These physicians are available in the hospital 24 hours a day and specialize only in hospital care. I will act as your health care advocate and communicate with you and your loved ones.
  • What if I need a specialist?
As your primary care physician, my extensive training allows me to handle most of your health care needs. However, in the event that you do need to see a specialist, I will find the right doctor for you and make sure you know who you are seeing And after your appointment, if you have questions or concerns about your visit with your specialist, I will address these issues at an office appointment or by phone, email or video conferencing.
  • What if I need diagnostic testing, ER, hospital?"
We can order or refer just as any insurance-based doctor can do. For some outside services, we can help find reasonable “cash” prices if you are paying out-of-pocket – especially radiology and lab. We can provide many urgent care services during regular or after-hours that can help people avoid a trip to the ER. In fact, concierge medicine has been shown to result in fewer ER visits for members because we can discuss your medical needs any time of the day or night. However, we do recommend having health insurance in the case of an unexpected, expensive event such as surgery, ER visit, or hospitalization. If you have a life -threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. A family member or caregiver can call me later to alert me of your situation
  • What if I need prescription medications?
Should you need prescription medication, whether it’s an antibiotic, blood pressure medication, diabetic supplies, or other treatments recommended by Dr. Aleksandrova, Maho Health DPC is able to offer these medications at near-wholesale prices to our patients as a part of your monthly fee.
  • Is there a limit to how many patients can join Maho Health DPC?
Yes. One of the most important aspects of private medicine is limiting the practice size to be able to devote more time and energy to each patient. Therefore, once we at Maho Health DPC have reached our ideal practice size, a waiting list will be established.
  • What if I want or need to end my membership?
You are welcome to cancel your membership at any time as long as you give us 30 days’ notice. We will refund memberships paid for the full year at a prorated rate.
  • How do I become a member?
We’re so happy you are ready to become a member of our practice. Call (407)717-4400 to join.
